Chapter 0700
"Exactly, who could know him so well?"
Claude always kept to himself, avoiding deep connections with anyone.
As Allen had pointed out, there weren't many people who truly understood him.
Yet, this person seemed to know every detail about him, mimicking him so perfectly that it felt like the real thing.
Pulling herself out of her thoughts, Suzy gave Allen instructions.
"Track down the source of the leaks online. Investigate the IDs behind the posts. There might be something
useful there."
"We've already tracked one of the IDs and locked it down," Allen replied with a sigh.
"But just like before, it led nowhere. Every twe think we're close, it feels like they're just toying with us. It's
the swith Vivian and her son.
"We know they're being directed by someone, but no matter how hard we dig, we can't figure out who's pulling
the strings."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAllen's frustration was palpable.
"We've always had access to the world's most advanced search systems. Normally, we'd have results in no time.
But now... I'm starting to wonder if I'm losing my touch."
Suzy picked up a nearby folder and lightly tapped it against his head.
"Stop doubting yourself. Even the best investigator can feel helpless when dealing
with someone who knows their every move and hides in the shadows."
The enemy's familiarity with their methods was unnervingly precise.
That was the only reason they were forced into such a passive position. "Alright," Allen relented, his tone softer.
He couldn't help but admire her resilience. "Boss, your ability to stay composed is amazing. No matter what
happens, you always seem so optimistic."
Suzy smiled faintly. "And what would pessimism achieve? Negativity doesn't solve problems; it only adds
unnecessary mental stress."
Allen nodded in agreement. "You're right. No matter what happens, we can't give
up.”
Suzy stifled a yawn. "They're doing all this to makea target. But lettell you, your boss" life isn't so easy
to take. Relax. I've already got this under control."
Her confidence reassured Allen. If she already had a plan, there was no need for him to worry further.
After Allen left, Suzy returned to her holding cell and promptly collapsed onto her bed.
Despite spending most of the day sleeping, she couldn't shake her exhaustion. Today, she felt even more
fatigued than before, almost as if she were battling sstrange illness.
Yet apart from the drowsiness, she felt fine. If anything, her appetite had significantly improved.
Maybe she was just bored.
"I should've asked Allen to leave his phone behind," Suzy muttered to herself. With a phone, at least she
wouldn't feel so bored.
Drifting back into yet another deep sleep, she was completely at ease until a strange sensation jolted her awake.
She suddenly felt someone by her bedside.
Her eyes flew open, but there was no one there. Everything seemed perfectly normal as if it had all been a
dream.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBut Suzy was certain it wasn't. The faint trace of a scent lingered in the air, one that didn't belong to her.
She was particularly sensitive to smells-no matter how faint, she could always pick them up.
This scent, in particular, was eerily familiar. It was almost identical to the one Claude used to carry.
Could it be? Was he really alive?
Frowning, Suzy grabbed a silver needle and quickly unlocked the door to her cell.
Following the trail of the scent, she moved quietly, her steps light but deliberate.
The scent grew stronger the further she went as if it had been intentionally left behind for her to follow.
"So, they want to meet me?" Suzy thought.
"Fine. Let's see if they're human... or something else entirely."
