Chapter 205
CHAPTER 5: | DON'T WANT TO LOSE HER
Maya was about to fall asleep when she heard a knock on the door, it was Abri, she poked her head through the
door and asked. “Can | cin?”
“Of course, cin.”
April approached, sat in the chair next to the bed and asked.
“How are you feeling?”
“Better.”
April stared at her as if she knew she was lying, Maya sighed heavily and answered.
“Okay, | feel awful, but I'm better than when | arrived.”
April took Maya's hand and infused a large amount of magic into it, Maya felt a little better, but not enough to
say that she was okay.
“My magic doesn’t work on you.”
“I know.”
“Why?”
“I'll tell you, but don’t tell Cassian, | don’t want to worry him.”
“I'll keep whatever you tella secret.”
This was the first tMaya was going to talk about what was happening to her with anyone other than the little
fairy that appeared like a ghost every tshe was alone.
“My life itself is being drained by the fairy land or so | was told.”
“What?”
“When | made the oath to the queen, my life and soul becbound to her, as well as to the fairy land.”

“But the queen freed you.”
“Once you make that oath, you can’t get rid of it, the queen freedfrom my chains, but not from the bond
that bindsto her.”
“Ill go talk to the fairy queen, I'll make her...”
“That won't do any good, not even the queen can undo the bond that binds us.”
“Then what will happen to you?”
“I will die.”
The little fairy that followed Maya everywhere appeared before April and said.
"If she goes back to the land of fairies that won't happen, when she returns her energy and vitality will be
restored."
"Shut up pixie."
Maya shouted a bit annoyed.
April was interested in what the little fairy had said and asked.
"So she should just go back?"
"Yes, she should just go back and she will recover, she will have a long life, she will live for centuries."
"I'm not going back!"
Maya shouted as she gave the little fairy a murderous look.
"Why do you refuse to go back Maya?"
April asked, as she didn’t understand why she refused to go back to the land of fairies so much.
“The fairy queen will letgo back, but what this pixie hasn't told you is that she will never letgo out
again, that | will have a long life, but without Cassian; | don’t want that, | want to be with the man I love, even if
that won't last long.”
Abril hugged Maya, when his warm arms surrounded her. Maya couldn't help crying, until that moment she had
been strong, but she couldn't take it anymore, she was scared, she was afraid of death, but she was even more
afraid of living a whole life without her love. Cassian had gotten so deep into her heart, that separating from him
would be like death itself.
Abril kept hugging her until Maya let out everything she had been keeping to herself in her heart and in part she
felt identified with her, because she had also been hiding something from Alessandro.
When she finally calmed down, Abril told her:
“We will find a way to solve this Maya, you are not going to die and you are not going to give up on Cassian
either.”
“I really wish | could believe that, but no matter how hard | try, my reasoning betraysand tellsthat there
is no way out, that no matter what path | take, the end will be the same.”
“I wish | could do something to help you...”
“You're helpingnow, to be honest, this is the first tI've cried since | found out what was happening to
me, since | found out | would never be truly free, I'd been acting strong and | think that was consuming me,
thank you for listening toand staying by my side, now | feel a little better.”
“I'll always be there for you, so if you need someone to vent to or a man to cry on, just say the word.”
Maya wiped the tears from her cheeks and said to him.
“Thank you Aby, and if one day you're going through something difficult, I'll be there for you too, I'm good at
listening and keeping secrets.”
In reality, Abril wanted to tell him that she was also hiding secrets, but Maya already had enough with her
problems, she didn’t want to burden her with hers.
“Thank you very much for your offer, one day | will take that word.”
When Cassian was announced, Alessandro immediately ushered him in. After crossing the door, Cassian found
himself in his brother's arms, with a voice full of relief he said to him.
“I'm glad you're here, | was very worried when you didn’t show up, | thought something had happened to you.”
Cassian hugged his brother back, although a great distance separated them, their relationship had not changed,
Alessandro was still the overprotective brother he knew. “I'm glad to see you too, brother.”
As they parted, Alessandro could see the dark shadows in his brother's eyes and he was slightly scared to think
that perhaps his brother was sick.

“Cass, you don’t look well at all, I'll call the doctor to check you out... No wait! I'll call April instead.”
Cassian stopped his brother and said.
“No need, I'm fine.”
“You look terrible, how can you even say you're fine?”
“It's just tiredness, the way here was long and | couldn't sleep all night.”
“Didn’t you use teleportation scrolls to chere?”
Cassian shook his head.
“Maya isn’t well, | decided to travel by carriage now to prevent her from getting worse, but in the end | only
ended up making her worse, she fainted when we were about to arrive, April has already treated her but...”
Cassian ruffled his hair, something he always did when he was frustrated.
Alessandro told him.
“Sit down, you look like you're going to faint at any moment.”
Alessandro poured him a cup of tea and asked.
“What's wrong brother?”
“I don’t know what's wrong with Maya, she’s not okay but she keeps trying to hide it from me, | asked her
several times to csee Abril, but she refused saying it wasn’t necessary, | think Abril’s magic hasn't done
much for her.”
“It must be your imagination, Abril’s magic is capable of reviving a dying person, you've already seen it.”
“Yes, and that's what scares me, that what Maya has is something that not even Abril can cure, | don’t want to
lose her, Lessan.”
Alessandro put his hand on his brother's shoulder to show his support and said.
“That's not going to happen, you're not going to lose her, Abril will be able to cure her, just be a little patient, I'm
sure she'll be as good as new tomorrow.”
“And if not? What will I do?”
“Stop thinking negatively, think that she'll be okay.”
“I hope so, because | can’t imagine a life without her anymore.”
