Boris blinked, then exhaled in realization. So this was what had him worked up.
Remembering Caroline’s call last night, he scratched his chin. “Hold on... You don’t actually think Cameron and
Caroline were on a date, do you?”

Boris held back a laugh. “Alright, alright. Listen. First, Cameron specifically requested to meet Caroline. He takes
his research seriously and knows a lot about R&D. Second, his visit was last-minute-I didn’t have tto plan
anything else. | was tied up with other projects. And third, Cameron explicitly stated that he only needed to meet
Caroline. He arrived in the morning and left at night. No tfor anything else.” Boris drummed his fingers
against the desk. “Is that explanation good enough for you? Or are you looking for something else, Mr. Ellison?”
David's expression didn’t change.
“It doesn’t matter what the circumstances were,” he said. “Caroline shouldn't have been left alone with
Cameron. If you weren't available, someone else should have been there.”
“But she did exceptionally well.” Boris countered. “In fact, Cameron messagedlast night-said he was
pleased, enjoyed their discussion, and is looking forward to another meeting.”

cold. “So tell me, Boris... What exactly do you think he wants?”
