Quinita seemed to regain her awareness and nodded. “You're right. Evelyn has just returned; let her rest for a

while.” She took Elysia by the hand and walked toward the sofa.

Fabian settled down on the sofa, still unaware of Edward's intentions. Quinita continued to hold Elysia’s hand

tightly, scared that if she relaxed even a little, her daughter might vanish again.

A smile lingered on her face; this was the happiest day she had experienced in three years.

“Evelyn, where have you been all this time? | couldn't find you anywhere.” Quinita asked.

Elysia smiled faintly in response. “I was playing hide and seek with you.”

“Hide and seek?”

“Yes, you sought while | hid. | must have gotten too carried away and ended up hiding for too long. I'm sorry for

making you worry,” Elysia replied.

Quinita believed her daughter's playful lie and gently ruffled Elysia’s hair, looking at her with affection. “Evelyn,

no need to apologize. If you enjoy playing hide and seek, I'll join you next time. Just don’t hide for so long. | miss

you dearly.”

“Okay, next tI'll cout sooner so you won't have to search for too long,” Elysia promised.

As they talked, the others averted their eyes, feeling introspective. Despite the ostensibly joyful and relaxed

atmosphere, a heaviness lingered among them.

“Quinita,” Edward began cautiously.

“Mom,” Fabian said, his tone filled with unease.

They exchanged glances, and ultimately, they went silent. Quinita looked at them, puzzled about their

Before she could ask, Edward said, “Quinita, there's something I need to tell you, but you have to promise me

not to panic. Is that alright?”

“What is it that requires such a mysterious introduction? Just tell me; | promise | will remain calm,” Quinita

insisted.

With her reassurance, Edward seemed to gather his courage. He looked deeply into her eyes, trying to read her

every expression. He resolved to stop talking if he sensed any sign of her being unable to handle the news.

Elysia had already begun to understand what he wanted to say, though she was perplexed by his sudden change

of heart. However, she felt it was best for her to stay silent.

She had already intervened once and didn’t feel the need to do so again. After all, she was merely a helper in

“Quinita, Evelyn is no longer with us. The girl sitting beside you is our other daughter-Evelyn’s twin sister,”

Edward finally revealed.

At these words, Quinita’s expression changed tically. “Edward, how can you joke withlike this? She is

clearly Evelyn.”

The fact that Edward could discuss this matter so openly surprised Fabian and his brothers. If their father had

cto terms with things and was willing to reveal the truth, they should support him.

broke in. “Mom, Dad is not joking. Evelyn has truly passed away.”

He looked directly into Quinita’s eyes, filled with gravity and determination.

In that instant, countless thoughts flooded Quinita’s mind. She was reluctant to believe them; however, their

tone and expression compelled her to face the painful truth.

Although she had drifted through the past years in a daze, she understood Fabian’s temperament, Fabian was

not one to joke-his words were nearly always the truth.

But she couldn't accept that Evelyn was truly gone.

Memories from three years ago surged back, the scene of Evelyn's passing vivid and sharp in her thoughts,

everything felt achingly real. As if awakening from a dream, she suddenly burst into tears, sobbing. “Evelyn-"

Edward's heart ached painfully for her. He drew Quinita into his embrace, but words failed him.

Elysia watched the scene unfold. She wanted to comfort Quinita, but in such moments, she wasn’t sure how to

offer support or what role she should play.

She silently observed as Quinita lifted her gaze to Edward, her voice nearly pleading, “Tell me, Evelyn is still

alive, isn’t she?

down her cheeks. She cried out, pounding her fists against Edward's chest.

He held her close, and after what felt like an eternity, she finally calmed down, her entire being becoming numb
