Chapter 467 An Old Partner
Michael's face immediately darkened as he saw Dean.
Back when he was with the Emerald City Police Department, he was ready to go to war with Dean to get justice
for Emily.
But Emily?
Sometimes Michael just couldn't understand how Emily had becso naive after getting pregnant.
Dean was practically messing with her, and she still turned around and sided with him?
The more he thought about it, the less sense it made. Michael's expression shifted as he turned to Emily, clearly
puzzled.
Emily knew exactly what Michael was misunderstanding. She wanted to explain, but before she could open her
mouth, his accusations cpouring out, as they always did, without giving her a chance to speak.
Faced with Michael's constant bland complaints, Emily stood frozen, her mind going blank. It reminded her
of the times when Sophia had framed her, back when she was a caged bird in the Smith family.
Michael had been the sback then, questioning her as if she were his enemy.
But they were supposed to be husband and wife, the ones who relied on each other!
She placed a hand on her belly, feeling the fluttering heartbeat inside, and interrupted Michael, "I had an
appointment with Archibald, and it was for work. | didn't know Dean would be there, but | know what his
relationship with Sophia is. However, work is work. If you don't believe me, cwith me, so you don't think I'm
betraying you again."

Michael fell silent.
Emily took a deep breath, taking his silence as agreement. She walked over to Archibald and said something to
him. Michael saw Archibald glance his way and nod.
Finally, Emily got into Michael's car.
Archibald led the way, with Michael driving closely behind.
Michael's car was the only one of its kind in Emerald City, a brand-new high-end sports car, making Archibald's
Mercedes G-Class seem incomparable. After a few rounds of trying to overtake, Michael couldn't resist and sped
past Archibald's car.
Emily noticed but didn't bother with Michael's childish behavior.
However, being pregnant, the fast driving was affecting her.
At first, she remained calm, but as they went on, she couldn't hold it in. Her stomach churned, and she felt like
she was going to be sick. Fortunately, Michael, who shared a physical connection with Emily, slowed down
immediately.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry, I..." Michael trailed off, trying to suppress his own nausea, turning his concern to Emily.
Michael handed her a bottle of water just in time. Emily felt better instantly and shook her head. "Drive slower."
Michael pressed his lips together in guilt and responded awkwardly, "Got it." Meanwhile, Dean, sitting in the
passenger seat, watched through the rearview mirror as Michael's car fell behind. A smug smile spread across
his face, and he scoffed.
"Look at Michael, acting all high and mighty with his sports car, but in the end, he can't even keep up with us."
Archibald ignored Dean's taunts.
He focused on driving, his mind replaying what Emily had said earlier.

It dawned on Archibald that Emily didn't seem to like Dean. In fact, she probably knew about Dean's
entanglement with her half-sister, Sophia, which was why she got into Michael's car.
Archibald suddenly regretted bringing Dean along to pick up Emily.
But earlier, Dean had insisted, saying, "Archibald, | admire Emily's work and want to collaborate with her.
Shouldn't | show ssincerity by coming with you to pick her up?"
At the time, Archibald hadn't thought much of it. But now, it seemed like a huge mistake.
"Just chill. Michael's gonna be there too, so watch yourself," Archibald reminded. Dean turned his head in
surprise, finding Archibald's words unreasonable. "Archibald, are you serious? Michael was the one who wanted
to fightat the police station. You're not siding with him, are you? You can't just ignore your own brother.
"Besides, you're interested in his ex-wife, and he clearly hasn't moved on. You two are competitors. If you're
competing, don't back down. Why did you let Emily get into his car? What was the point of us coming to pick her
up then? A joke?"
Dean's sarcastic remarks continued.
Archibald had enough and turned up the music volume, letting the loud song drown out Dean's voice.
Dean wanted to say more but saw Archibald's dark expression and decided to keep quiet, turning to look out the
window. The reflection of the high-end sports car in the side mirror was particularly glaring, making Dean feel
even worse.
When they arrived at Dean's studio, Celeste was already waiting.
With Michael's support, Emily walked in with Archibald and Dean.

awkward but undeniably real.
The office door knocked.
The secretary opened it, and Archibald led Emily, Michael, and the others inside.
Emily hadn't planned on letting Michael cin, but seeing Dean, Michael insisted on joining, and Emily had no
choice but to let him.
"Aunt Celeste, letintroduce you to the designer | mentioned, Emily."
"And this is..."
When it cto Michael, Archibald hesitated, unsure how to introduce him.
He couldn't very well say he was Emily's ex-husband.
After a moment, Archibald decided to introduce him formally as part of Smith Corporation. But before he could
speak, Celeste's eyes lit up, and she exclaimed at Michael.
"Aren't you Mr. Michael Smith from Smith Corporation? I've heard so much about you! | participated in a Smith
Corporation project at Seraphim. You even cto Seraphim
to meet me. Do you remember? I'm Celeste Lancaster. You should have smemory of me."
Celeste Lancaster. The nwas indeed familiar to Michael.
Years ago, Mason had sent him to Seraphim for an important project, and Celeste was one of the first partners he
met.
They had hit it off back then, promising to work together again in the future.
