Chapter 525 Charles ran into his car and suddenly, he spotted a gun in the passenger's seat.
He was consumed by vengeance and did not care how the gun got into his car. He wound down the window and pointed the gun at Nolan.
"Please take care of my parents' funeral for me. Thanks." He then stepped on the pedal and drove off.
Nolan watched calmly as the car drove off. Everything was progressing as he planned.
He walked into the house and saw Xavier and Jessica, both dead in each other's embrace. He sighed helplessly.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe may have dragged the two of them into this mess, but he never thought of hurting them or making them take their own lives.
He made a call to his men and ordered them to give the elderly couple a proper burial.
Meanwhile, Stephen was going through the reports on the recent updates. Even though riot police were deployed to maintain order in the city, things did not improve. Quite the opposite, the dangerous men armed with guns were further stimulated, causing them to be more volatile than before.
They got anxious, hoping to seize whatever money they could get their hands on before fleeing, leading to even more casualties and robberies. They even raided the shops that were closed, breaking in through violent means.
Ganter and Austin were also robbed. Austin was shot in the leg, while Ganter was punched to the ground as the robbers took whatever valuables in the clinic.
After the robbers swept the place clean and fled, Ganter called for an ambulance, but he was told there were no ambulances available at that moment.
Stunned, he glanced at Austin. When he saw his protege's thigh bleeding profusely, his face paled. The shot must have hurt Austin's main artery, and Ganter quickly called Stephen for help.
Back in the office, Stephen's phone rang, but he dared not answer it because Charles was right in front of him with a gun pointed at his face.
Charles said coldly, "It's all because of you." Feeling pressured, Stephen asked nervously, "What is going on?" He never would have thought that his assistant would one day point a gun in his face while consumed by anger.
He had no doubt that Charles would put a bullet through his head if he said the wrong thing.
"Hill City is in a mess because of you. My parents are dead because of you!" Stephen's eyes widened in shock. Charles' parents were dead? "What happened?" He had no idea what happened. The elderly couple had cto him earlier and fell on their knees, begging him to release Ethan. Yet, thirty minutes later, he was told they were dead.
"I don't know anything about this! I never hurt them! I have nothing to do with their death," Stephen argued.

Furious, Charles scoffed. "I see through you now. You always shift the responsibility when things go wrong. really thought you could do a good job governing Hill City. Now, I'm taking you out for the people!" He was more agitated than ever.
Just as he was about to pull the trigger, security rushed in and rammed him down.
One of them disarmed him and kicked the gun away.
Once Charles was pinned down, Stephen breathed a sigh of relief. The office had surveillance cameras, so he had been stalling until security arrived. Fortunately, he made it. Charles struggled on the ground but could not break free.
He shouted at Stephen, "You're the one who got the city into this mess! You will die a horrible death one day! You can't keep Ethan Rivers locked away forever! You might be able to control public opinion, but justice will prevail! You will pay for what you have done!"
Stephen looked at Charles with a mix of emotions. He was angryconfused, and baffled. What did he do to make Charles hate him so much? Was it not Charles' own mistake? Had he not taken the bribes, the city would not be in a mess. Moreover, why did Charles mention Ethan? He watched as security took Charles away, catching the look on Charles' face before the man was gone. Charles roared, feeling aggrieved and regretful.
