Chapter 116 The Illegitimate Child Leon's eyes narrowed, fists clenching as he heard the news.
"No way I'm letting him near the kids!" Tiffany trusted Leon to keep the kids safe, and she'd never let anything happen to them.
She glanced at Leon and suggested, "Since we know there's danger, how about we let the kids stay at the Cooper Mansion for a few days?" Leon nodded.
Outside the study, four little ears were pressed against the door, trying to catch Tiffany and Leon's conversation, but they couldn't make out a single word.
"What are they whispering about? Why's it so quiet in there?" Sam muttered. Just as he was about to press his ear against the door again, it suddenly opened.
Sam stumbled and fell right into Leon's arms. He looked up awkwardly and met Leon's gaze, nervously muttering, "Daddy..." Barry and Flora had already scurried to the side the moment the door opened, pretending they had no idea what was going on. Ronald, too, covered his embarrassment with a cough, pacing back and forth with his cane.

"Sam, for the next few days, you, Barry, and Flora will stay hwith Great-Grandpa, okay?" Hearing Leon's words, Barry and Flora looked puzzled and walked over to him, tilting their heads.
Sam tilted his head, confused, "Daddy, does that mean we don't have to go to school?" "Great-Grandpa isn't feeling well. He's been coughing and dizzy. He said he needs you to keep him company." Leon had learned how to coax the kids. "You can help him take walks and make sure he takes his medicine. Take care of him. Once we're done with our work, we'll take you to the amusement park." Hearing this, their eyes lit up. The thought of going to the amusement park with Leon and Tiffany made them agree immediately. "We'll definitely take good care of Great- Grandpa!" Now, only Ronald was left with a world of hurt. He didn't realize he was being used as an excuse by Leon, but he knew Leon wouldn't say such things without reason. If the kids weren't going to school and had to stay home, there must be something serious going on. So, he played along and coughed.
"Mommy, I saw sflowers outside," Flora said sweetly, looking up at Tiffany.
"Got it. Flora, do you want to pick sflowers?" "Yes!" After Tiffany took the three kids to the yard, Ronald slowly walked over to Leon and asked, "What's going on? What did you and Tiffany talk about in the study? Why aren't the kids going to school?" "Grandpa, Tiffany and I are investigating something. We suspect someone might target the kids. So, when we're not home, I'll have bodyguards here. With you watching over them, I'll feel more at ease." Leon's words caused a shift in Ronald's expression. His tone turned serious, carrying a note of authority. "Alright, I get it. But you need to resolve this matter swiftly." "Got it," Leon nodded.
Just as they finished talking, Sam cin with a big bunch of flowers, tugging at Leon's pant leg. "Daddy, let's go pick flowers in the yard." Sam's words shattered the tense atmosphere in the living room. Leon gave Sam a gentle pat on the cheek and nodded. "Let's go." With a chuckle, Leon took Sam's hand and led him out to the yard.
The family of five gathered in the yard, their laughter occasionally reaching Ronald's ears. Leaning on his cane, he stood by the door, watching the scene with satisfaction.

"How can you not handle such a simple task? Miguel, you're so useless!" Derek's angry shouts echoed from the study. Vera listened anxiously outside, too scared to intervene, pacing back and forth.
Derek held a cane, striking Miguel's back repeatedly, his frustration evident.
Miguel stayed silent, but his eyes burned with resentment as he glared at Ralph, who stood silently nearby. "Dad, it was Ralph who took the project from me. How is this my fault?" Hearing this, Derek's strikes beceven harsher. "Don't think I don't know. Ralph went to discuss the project with Emery himself. You took it from him and messed it up completely. Hand all the projects over to Ralph. You don't need to follow up on any of them anymore!" Derek threw the cane onto the desk and stormed out of the study. Vera, startled, wanted to check on Miguel, but Derek didn't even glance at her as he left the house.
In the study, Miguel ignored his pain and grabbed Ralph by the collar, ready to punch him. "Ralph, Dad gave you all the projects. Are you happy now? Is this what you wanted?" Ralph calmly removed Miguel's hand and smoothed out his shirt. "Miguel, Dad made the decisions. What does it have to do with me?" He spoke slowly, then walked out of the study, meeting Vera's gaze.
Ralph's words had naturally reached Vera's ears. She cursed, "You bastard! How dare you treat my son like this! Don't think that just because you act all obedient in front of Derek, you can replace my son! Dream on! No matter how hard you try, you'll never be respectable!" Vera's words were sharp, deliberately hitting Ralph's sore spot. But Ralph was used to it after all these years. He didn't take her words to heart, merely giving her a cold glance.

Vera, too angry to speak, focused on Miguel's injuries instead. She quickly changed her demeanor, showing concern as she helped Miguel out and fetched the first aid kit. When she pulled off Miguel's shirt, she saw his back was red and bleeding from the cane strikes. Derek had truly been furious this time, hitting him so hard.
Vera applied the medicine gently, but even so, it hurt Miguel, making him complain. "Mom, be gentle." "I know. Your dad is too much. It's just a project. Why did he hit you so hard?" Vera grumbled about Derek while tending to Miguel, then made him tea and cut fruit.
Upstairs, Ralph cout of his room and saw Vera taking care of Miguel. He paused, watching with envy. If his mother were still alive, would he be this happy too? Thinking of this, Ralph felt a pang of sadness.
Vera was right; his status couldn't compare to Miguel's. He was just an illegitimate child. When his mother was sick, he worked hard to impress red hard te Derek, hoping for help. Derek finally E saw his potential, but even with money, his mother still passed away.
Ralph's mother had been driven to death by Vera. She thought Ralph didn't know, but he had always harbored this hatred, waiting for the right moment. Ralph withdrew his gaze and went back to his room. His phone buzzed with a message. He glanced at it, seeing an unknown number.
[Ralph, do you want revenge? Do you want everything the Larson family has? Work with me.] Ralph frowned and deleted the message, ignoring it. He wanted revenge, but he didn't need anyone's help.
