Chapter 17 Leon Took Sam's Watch Tiffany had already taken the kids home. Barry walked back into the bedroom just as Sam called. Making sure Tiffany wouldn't cin, Barry cautiously answered the phone.
"Hey Barry, how's it going with Mom?" Sam asked eagerly.
Thinking about what Tiffany had said today, Barry felt a lump in his throat and a wave of happiness. "Mom really loves us, Sam. I totally misunderstood her." Hearing this, Sam finally relaxed. "See? I told you, Mom loves you! Why would I lie? I'm your big brother." Sam chuckled and scratched his nose.
"And what about you? Do you still not want Dad and Mom to get back together?" Barry nervously checked his watch, waiting for Sam's answer.
"Dad's still got sproving to do. He left Mom and said spretty hurtful things!" Sam snorted, feeling protective of Tiffany.
"I don't think Dad's that kind of person. If he knew Mom was pregnant, he wouldn't have left her," Barry said, looking conflicted. Uncertain about the severity of their father actions, Sam acknowledged his consistent care for him, indicating his concern for his mother's children. How could he have just abandoned her? "Here's the plan, Barry. You spend more twith Mom. When you're ready to go back to her, we'll show up together and tell her the truth. Meanwhile, I'll stay with Dad. If Dad steps up, then we'll let them remarry!" Sam was still hopeful. Being raised by Tiffany since they were young, Sam and Flora often inquired about their absent Dad. Tiffany would dodge the questions, claiming he was deceased, a lie Sam's instincts always sensed.
Barry agreed with Sam's plan. They chatted a bit more before hanging up.

Sam was startled by Leon's gaze and nervously clutched his watch. "When did you get here, Dad?" Sam asked, lowering his head guiltily, unable to meet Leon's eyes.
Leon frowned, looking at the "Barry" in front of him. His sharp eyes focused on the watch. He suddenly remembered he had never bought his son a watch, especially not one so ugly.
Leon grabbed Sam's hand and took off the watch before he could stop him. Then, he examined it and discovered its call function.
No wonder Leon had heard "Barry" talking to someone inside, even calling out "Mom" a couple of times. Although he hadn't heard the specifics, he was sure Barry had been secretly contacting Tiffany! "Barry, didn't I tell you not to contact Tiffany? Why didn't you listen?" Leon's face darkened, his eyes filled with anger. He didn't want to get mad at Barry, but ever since Tiffany appeared, Barry often mentioned her.
Naturally, Leon blamed Tiffany for Barry's recent changes. If it weren't for her meeting Barry, he wouldn't be thinking about Mom all the time.
"Dad, I wasn't contacting Mom. That was a friend I met online..." Sam didn't expect Leon to take the watch so suddenly. If Leon took it away, he wouldn't be able to contact Barry.
Sam looked up, pitifully at Leon. Seeing his son's expression, Leon felt a bit soft- hearted. But thinking of Tiffany, he resolutely took the watch and went downstairs.
Sam quickly followed, still pleading. "Dad, please giveback the watch. I promise I won't contact Mom, okay?" 'I'll only contact Barry,' Sam thought to himself.
"I'll be good and listen to you, Dad. That watch is my favorite thing." 'Because Mom bought it,' Sam added silently in his mind.

Leon felt that Barry had changed recently. Could it really be related to this online friend? Leon looked at the watch again and discovered it had a messaging function. He opened it but found nothing inside.
Every tSam and Barry contacted each other, they agreed to delete the messages to avoid being discovered by their parents.
Leon placed the watch on the desk just as a video conference call cin.
Outside the study, Sam stood with his hands on his hips, thinking he would give their father a negative score. 'Mom would never be so overbearing! Dad is too much! How could he take away my precious Mickey watch?' At that moment, Damon brought sfreshly washed fruit and smiled, "Barry, have sfruit. Mr. Cooper is swamped with work these days. He's juggling a ton of business for the company and looking after you, keeping him super busy." Hearing Damon's words, Sam walked over, sat on the sofa, and popped a grape into his mouth. "Then I won't bother Dad, but he has to giveback my watch," Sam muttered.
Then, his eyes lit up, and he jumped off the sofa, grabbing Damon's hand and pleading, "Damon, can you find speople to play with me? Let's play soccer! The yard is so big, we can play together, okay?" Sam's eyes sparkled as he looked at Damon. He had always loved playing ball, any kind of ball. Sam could play them all. But Flora, being a girl, wasn't interested in these things and only liked playing chess. Sam wasn't her match, so the siblings often found it boring.

But now that he was back in the country, he hadn't had a chance to make friends yet, so he asked Damon to find sservants to play with him. After all, their father's house was so big! They could definitely have a lot of fun! Seeing "Barry" so enthusiastic, Damon didn't want to dampen his spirits.
Ten minutes later, all the available servants were called to play soccer with "Barry." They planned to let "Barry" win to please him, but he surprised everyone with his skills, earning a thumbs-up from all. They were so engrossed in playing that they didn't notice Leon coming out of the study. He stood in the living room, watching them outside.
Leon had just finished his meeting and heard the commotion in the yard. He thought something had happened, but when he saw the smile on "Barry's" face, he felt a bit moved.
"Barry" transformed from a quiet, withdrawn individual to confidently engaging with others. Leon contemplated the online friend m "Barry" had brought up. Could it be their influence? On second thought, maybe he shouldn't interfere with "Barry's" friendships. He turned back to the study, took the watch, and walked to the yard. Just then, "Barry's" ball accidentally rolled to Leon's feet. Leon picked up the ball and walked over to "Barry," handing it to him. "Barry" hugged the ball, and Leon put the watch back on his wrist.
"Dad, you're not taking my watch away?" Sam asked, surprised.
Leon nodded.
Sam jumped up happily, kicking the ball around Leon. It seemed their dad wasn't as bad as he thought.
Alright! No negative score for him.
