Chapter 57 Formation of the Squad In the days that followed, Leon kept a tight leash on the three kids, barely letting them out of his sight. Every tthey tried to sneak out to find Tiffany, Leon would catch them in the act.

The kids were getting pretty frustrated.

In Barry's room, they all sat on the edge of the bed, looking at each other with glum faces, and sighed again.

Sam slapped his thigh, breaking the silence. He jumped off the bed, hands on his hips. "This can't go on! Daddy brought us back, but does that mean we'll never see Mommy again?" Flora shook her head and looked at Sam. "Sam, do you have any ideas? I want to see Mommy, but Daddy's always so mad." Sam furrowed his brows, deep in thought. Suddenly, his eyes lit up as he remembered Bronte, the woman standing between their parents.

"Daddy's getting engaged to that woman. If we mess up their engagement party, maybe Daddy and Mommy will get back together!" Barry's eyes widened as he remembered something. "I overheard Daddy on the phone. He's been looking for someone from five years ago. Later, he said Bronte was the one, but it always seemed fishy to me. Sam, do you think she might be lying to Daddy?" Sam's eyes sparkled. This was a game-changer. If Bronte was lying, she wouldn't stand a chance with Leon! "Barry, this is perfect! Let's dig into what happened five years ago. If we stop the engagement, Mommy can cback!" The three kids agreed and decided to investigate the past. They left Barry's room, thinking they might find sclues in Leon's study.

But as soon as they stepped out, they bumped into Damon, who was carrying three bowls of chicken soup upstairs. Damon smiled at them. "Where are you all headed?" Leon had told Damon to keep an eye on the kids and not let them sneak out again. Sam knew Damon responded better to sweetness than force. With his most charming voice, he ran downstairs, helped Damon carry the soup to the dining table, and blinked his big eyes adorably.

"Damon, we're not going out. We just want to check out Daddy's study. Barry said there are lots of books Flora and I haven't seen. Can we go in?" Barry quickly pulled Flora over, and they obediently sat at the table, finishing their soup quietly.

Seeing how well-behaved they were, Damon figured they wouldn't try to sneak out again. He remembered Leon's instructions: as long as they stayed put, they could do whatever they wanted at home.

Damon handed the study key to Sam. "If you need anything, just call me." "Thanks, Damon!" With the key in hand, Sam quickly opened the door. Once Barry and Flora were inside, he quietly locked it so they wouldn't have to worry about their father suddenly showing up.

Inside the study, they started searching carefully. But after a long time, whether they checked the drawers or the computer, they found nothing! Sam was wiped out. He plopped down on the floor, wiped the sweat off his forehead with his sleeve, and asked, "Barry, are you sure you heard Daddy say that?" Barry stopped searching and nodded right away. "Yeah, Daddy definitely said it. I overheard, but I don't know the details." While they were talking, sharp-eyed Flora found a drawing under the computer. She tilted her head, studying it. The pattern looked familiar, so she waved it around. "Sam, Barry, check this out." Hearing Flora, the two boys quickly got up and walked over to the computer desk.

Flora showed them the pattern she found. Barry looked puzzled. He'd never seen it before and had no idea when Leon had someone draw it.

But when Sam saw it, his eyes lit up, and he got excited. "It's Mommy! Mommy has a birthmark shaped like this." As soon as Sam said that, Flora remembered. "Yeah, this is Mommy's birthmark. It's right behind her ear." Barry scratched his head, confused. "Then why does Daddy still have Mommy's stuff?" "I don't think it's necessarily Mommy's," Flora said softly.

The three of them exchanged looks, realizing they might have stumbled upon another one of Leon's secrets. But only Leon could explain the birthmark.

Barry looked at Sam seriously and asked, "Sam, should we ask Daddy?" "No way, Daddy will definitely ask why we were snooping. If he finds out it's for Mommy, he'll be mad," Sam said. "Let's gather more info first, see if we can figure out what happened five years ago. If it's about Mommy, even better! From today, our mission to get Daddy and Mommy back together officially starts!" Sam extended his hand, and Barry and Flora placed theirs on top. Their big round eyes met seriously, and they made encouraging gestures with their other hands.

Over at Platinum Haven Hotel, the project bidding meeting Leon had been prepping for was happening today. Bath Larson Corporation and Vertex Holdings Group submitted bids, and the project owner would pick the higher one.

Leon handed over his proposal to the project owner. Miguel also submitted his. He looked at Leon with a confident smirk, which made Leon suspicious.

When the project owner finished reading the proposals they weren surprised. The highest bid for the last piece of land is... Mr. Larson." Hearing the decision, Leon frowned. He glanced at Miguel, who didn't seem surprised at all.

Miguel stood up, adjusted his suit, extended his hand to Leon, and smiled. "Mr. Cooper, my apologies." Leon shot him a cold look without responding, then turned to the project owner and asked, "Can I ask, what was Mr. Larson's bid?" "Mr. Cooper, Mr. Larson's bid was one hundred dollars higher than Vertex Holdings Group." Exactly one hundred dollars? Leon sneered. He didn't buy that it was just a coincidence. There had to be a mole in the company.

"Thank you," Leon said, then got up and left.

Miguel thought Leon would be furious, but his calm attitude threw him off. Did Leon not care about the land?
