Chapter 221

"Hey, let's go check out that spot."

Keith caught up with Amara, pointing towards the nearby grove. Amara turned and swept a glance at him.

She wasn't surprised to see Keith tagging along. Nodding, she walked with him towards the trees.

They chatted about this and that as they strolled to the edge of a lake. Finally, Keith couldn't hold back any

longer. He asked, "Did you mean it when you said you didn't want to get married anymore?"

"Yeah," Amara replied as she nodded, her expression serious. "I just don't see myself getting married again."

She genuinely meant it. With a child already, the idea of marriage didn't seem as important. Besides, despite not

considering love a disappointment, after ending an eight-year-long crush, she was exhausted. She didn't want to

risk falling into that emotional turmoil again.

Keith frowned and gently turned Amara towards him, inquiring, "Why don't you want to get married anymore?

Just because of one jerk, you're giving up on all men? Why would you think it that way?"

His serious tone almost made Amara laugh. She smacked his hand away and rolled her eyes. "Who said | gave

up on men? Don't jump to conclusions."

"Then why the aversion to marriage?" Keith pressed on stubbornly.

He had waited for what felt like forever for Amara to be single, and before he could even make a love confession,

she declared herself done with marriage. It wasn't what he had hoped for.

Oblivious of Keith's mind, Amara assumed he was just concerned and thought it was a pity that she might be

giving up marriage entirely over one bad experience; that was why he had the remarks. She thought for a

moment and said, "Actually, | haven't told you this, but I'm pregnant."

Her heart raced as she said it, feeling a mix of anxiety.

She had expected Keith to be upset when he found out, which was why she had kept it a secret. But the truth

had to cout sooner or later. Better now than when her belly started showing.

She held her breath, observing Keith's reaction carefully. As expected, his eyes

widened in disbelief as he stared at her. "You're pregnant?"

Keith's gaze dropped to her stomach as he questioned, "Whose is it?"

"It's... my ex-husband's," Amara admitted euphemistically, carefu not to mention Finnian's name. "There was a

bit of an accident back then, then it happened, but he

doesn't know about the baby."

Amara had imagined Keith would fly into a rage and confront Finnian. She had

even thought of ways to stop him if he did.

But she didn't expect Keith to just

stand there, as if he was struck by lightning, too stunned to speak. Then, slowly, his eyes filled with anger and

something else, a mix of emotions Amara couldn't quite decipher.

He clenched his fists, speaking deliberately, "Get rid of it."

"What?" Amara looked up. "What did you say?"

The lakeside was silent, save for them. She had heard him clearly, but the shock made her ask again.

Keith, as if restraining himself, repeated, "I said, get rid of the baby."

Amara was speechless. She hadn't misheard. Keith really wanted her to terminate the pregnancy.
